What We Do
Masters
Athletics represent fitness, fun and fellowship across a range of athletic
activities for men and women aged 30 and over. The club
boasts a membership of over 300. Everyone, from beginner to elite
is welcome. Standards and performances are recorded in five year
age groups. Everyone participates in heats or groups at their own
standard. Handicap events are especially popular, encouraging and
rewarding improvement and fitness gained through the year. The
philosophy of the Masters movement is PARTICIPATION. Come
along and enjoy yourself in running, walking, throwing or jumping.
Our
Main Activities
Monthly Running Handicaps
Run in forests and on trails around
Monthly Throwing Handicaps
Usually the last Saturday of each month from 1.00pm at the
Track and
Field Season
Thursdays 6.00-9.00pm, October to March, at either Woden
Park or the AIS Athletic Field, Bruce. The program consists of varying events, including sprints,
middle and long distance runs, throws, jumps and walks.

The Social Aspect Social get togethers are an integral part of Club activities and provide a great opportunity to make new friends and share fun experiences. Friendships have even led to the occasional wedding Organised activities include: Monthly Social Dinners Held at various restaurants and locations around Canberra. Seasonal Social Functions Details of these are published in the club newsletter. Tea, and Biscuits Provided by the club after most events. Supper After track and field in summer. |
